The granddaughter of Author and Gothic Revival Architect, Ralph Adams Cram, the artist lived for 5 years in Stowe, Vermont, where her family ran a ski lodge. A resident of Columbus, Ohio since 2005, she has lived in Massachusetts, Tennessee, Georgia, and Virginia. She earned her B.A. in Art History at Western College For Women In Oxford, Ohio. The artist has worked with pastels for over 35 years and finds the medium ideally suited for capturing and interpreting the dramatically sharp shadows, subtly blended shades, and vibrant colors of nature’s fireworks – sunrises, sunsets, clouds – and water! The current series of cloud paintings is from the artist’s photographs of clouds, sunrises, and sunsets taken in Clintonville. Some comments on her work include: -Brilliant use of color -Lots of movement encourages the viewer’s eyes to wander within the images -Wonderful depth -Great balance between light and dark -Instant drama -Vivid and inspirational scenes -An apt student of mood -Sharp and glittering contrasts in color -Tension between light and dark -Magical, fleeting, and full of motion -Evocative impressions and blazing scenery The artist says “I am always inspired by the play of light and shadow on water, ground, and sky.” She is a member of the Clintonville Arts Guild. Commissions for pet paintings in pastel are happily accepted – and your satisfaction is guaranteed! Sarah is a member of the Clintonville Arts Guild.
